Q. z39.50 Setup for ALEPH

Answer

z39.50 Setup for ALEPH Libraries

What is it?

z39.50 is a web standard used to search and retrieve information from integrated library systems like Aleph. Configuring the z39.50 within ILLiad's customization manager enables the ability to search the local catalog from within ILLiad without an addon.

The z39.50 setup for may require additional settings in the Customization Manager. The settings are one of the tabbed options.

The following screenshot shows what those settings would be for SUNY Brockport, a library that uses Aleph.  Brockport’s OPAC URL is http://bro.sunyconnect.suny.edu:4370/F  Modify your port numbers accordingly.

If you want to test some of your settings, the Library of Congress has created a z39.50 Test Search feature.
